Roaming Rob ts
Winter Tour
The Roaming Robots winter tour
made a late but exuberant start
in Portsmouth. As usual, there were
three weekend events over October
and November, and three cities with
each well advertised event attracting
a paying crowd for two or three
shows. Production values were high
with lots of sound and light effects.

This weekend saw the
introduction of a new arena with
three sides fenced in with metal
mesh extending up 1.5 meters from
the kickplate to stop the easy flips
out of the arena which have
brought a quick end to too many
fights. The fourth side has the usual
low wall but instead of a drop,
there is a floor at the arena floor
level and ejected robots can drive
back in through a gate if they can
make it within a 30 second time
limit. The gate stayed open for the
first show because there wasn’t
time to get it working.
The arena assembly started at
8 am that morning, but the new
