Original 60 lb robot:
Ruiner. Lack of motor
support resulting in the
destruction of the
weapon motor and a
weak drive system
were the reason for the
Concept model for
Mr. Self Destruct
done in Rhinocerous
3D. This model was
used to determine
the amount of
space needed to
Solidworks drawing of Mr. Self Destruct.
Solidworks was used to
create the mechanical drawings
of the individual parts for
machining and to estimate the
weight of the chassis.
Testfitting the UHMW top armor. G10 garolite was used
for the bottom armor.
Chassis pieces made by Team Whyachi
next to the original 28" x 3" x 1/2" S7 tool
steel weapon bar. The parts made by
Team Whyachi are 2024 aluminum.
Assembled chassis. Materials are 2024
aluminum (light gray), G10 garolite
(brown-green), and grade 5 titanium
(dark gray). Not counting the machine
screws, the chassis weighs less than 4 lbs.
Finished robot with my 12/15 lb robot.
The pictured weapon bar is being replaced by a
28" x 3" x 3/8" S7 bar to reduce the overall robot weight
and reduce the spinning mass. The intention is to
reduce spin-up time and increase
the rotational speed.
