Solder the two 3. 5 mm connectors to the XT60 connector as in
Figure 12. Slip a piece of 1/4” heat shrink over each lead of the JST
connector. Solder the leads to the outside 3. 5 mm connectors and slide
the heat shrink over the connections; heat to secure. Notice the
orientation of the black and red leads.
The black lead is attached to the connector that is on the tapered
side of the XT60 as shown in Figure 13. If the heatshrink is covering the
ends of the bullet connectors, trim it until they are exposed.
You will need a brushless motor speed controller
(ESC) to drive the spinner motor. The one I used was
a Multistar 20 amp ESC available from HobbyKing.
Plug the power leads of the ESC into the two
bullet connectors as shown in Figure 14. Be sure
the black lead is connected to the negative bullet
connector (tapered side).
Plug the three leads on the motor into the three
connectors on the opposite end of the ESC. Connect
the male JST on the adapter cable into the female JST
on the motor driver. Now, connect the control cable
connector (three-pin servo) on the ESC into channel 3
of your radio. Be sure to observe the signal lead on
the connector. In the case of the Tactic receiver that I
am using, the signal lead on the ESC control cable (orange)
faces the center of the radio.
The ESC is best placed against the front edge of the
PBOD as shown in Figure 15. Your radio and wires should
fit nicely against the ESC. Use tie wraps to keep things
neat as in Figure 16.
