Barbots 2013.75 Event
Many of the bartending robots at his event were the same
systems already described in the
Barbots article published in the July
2013 issue of SERVO. Of course,
several of them have been modified
since then and there were a few
new ones at this event.
Inertia Labs rebuilt The
Manhattan Project and changed to
a peristaltic pumping system with
an Arduino controller. They also
built a brand new machine called
the TikiBot that is a beautiful Laser
cut wooden sculpture that uses
their cam and micro switch control
system. Their original system was
modified to operate peristaltic
pumps for this cool machine, and
it poured Mai Tai drinks.
Evil Mad Scientist Lab brought
their Drink Making Unit 2 that
filled laboratory glassware with the
proper amount of liquids and then tiled each test tube to pour the chemicals
together in a mixing beaker.
Outta Time was back with a new lighted toggle switch selection system that
allowed patrons to select their drinks from a menu and then push the Go button
that triggered the robotic arm to move the glass to the pour station for each
ingredient, and then return the completed drink to the home/serving station.
Bartendro allowed attendees to select their drinks from a touchscreen menu
that would scroll through a lot of drink choices. They are also now offering the
peristaltic pumps and driver board for sale as a kit to
encourage new builders. They really do have one of
the best systems and it’s a great place to start.
