Tiny Ethernet Switch
The Ethos Lite from Gadgetsmyth is a tiny unmanaged Ethernet switch that
has five ports and supports 10/100 MB
data rates on a board measuring just 1.75"
x 1.75" and weighing only 15 grams. One
primary area where the Ethos Lite stands
out is in situations where weight and
power are high priorities such as
unmanned aerial vehicles or robotics.
All five ports are fully shielded with
magnetic couplers for common mode rejection, meeting
Ethernet wiring specifications. This allows designers the
ability to skip the large RJ45 connectors and wire directly
onto connected peripherals, or place the connectors in a
more flexible location.
The Ethos board can accept a wide range of voltage
input from 5V-15V, again making it an
ideal fit for unmanned systems that
provide battery power. The Ethos
board can also double as a 3.3V
regulator, providing up to one amp of
current. Under full load (all five ports
actively sending data), the Ethos
consumes less than two watts.
Connections to the Ethos Lite are
provided by Molex PicoBlade headers,
with one for each port and an
additional connector for power. As an
added feature, the MDIO lines to the Ethernet switch IC
have been exported allowing developers access to
management data registers.
Included with the Ethos lite is the main board, along
with six Molex PicoBlade cables (five with RJ45 connectors,
one with bare wires for power). The Ethos Lite costs $250

Actobotics Beam Brackets
ServoCity has recently released 13 new beam bracket sets. These brackets make it easy to join aluminum
beams and beam blocks to other Actobotics™
components. Available in various sizes and shapes, the
brackets allow for unlimited mounting possibilities.
Constructed of 1/8” Delrin, they are extremely rigid and
durable. The number of mounting holes varies by style, but
they all incorporate 6-32 thru holes. Though the brackets
can easily be drilled for custom applications, the hole
spacing is compatible with the Actobotics 0.770” hub
pattern for quick and easy attachment. The brackets are
sold in pairs and start at just $1.49.
Actobotics Parallel Tube Clamps
Adding to their large selection of tubes and accessories, ServoCity is also soon releasing a line of parallel tube
clamps. To start, the aluminum tube clamps will come in
four sizes: 1/4” bore, 3/8” bore,1/2” bore, and 5/8” bore,
with additional metric sizes soon to follow. The aluminum
construction makes the clamps lightweight, without
compromising strength and holding power. Each clamp
includes a 6-32 x 1/2” socket head machine clamping bolt
that requires a 7/64” hex key (sold separately).
The 6-32 tapped mounting holes allow easy
connection to other Actobotics components. Whether
building a rover, 3D printer, robotic arm, or a custom DIY
project, these clamps are handy for all kinds of
applications. They are sold individually, starting at $5.99.
