from superbright
leds.com use high power three-chip 5050SMD LEDs and
are great for accent and other special application lighting
designs. Available in cool, warm, and natural white color
temperatures, these 12 VDC strips produce up to 350
lumens per foot while drawing just 0.3 amps per foot.

Open Architecture Workcell
Controller
EPSON Robots
introduces
its new
RC620+,
EPSON’s
fourth
generation
open architecture
PC-based workcell controller.
The high performance RC620+ provides
ease of use with EPSON RC+ development software. The
RC620+ is capable of controlling up to four SCARA robots,
three six-axis robots, or two SCARA and two six-axis robots
for a total of up to 20 axes of motion from one controller.
Three PCI slots are available for options such as vision
systems, fieldbus masters, or third party plug-in cards to
expand the RC620+ controller as needed for particular
applications. The RC620+ runs a separate CPU dedicated
to motion control and real time options including
additional I/O, conveyor tracking, expansion I/O, and
DeviceNet, Profibus, and EtherNet/IP fieldbus slave
options. In addition to these features, the RC620+
controller also provides RC+ Controls software. At the
heart of it is EPSON’s Real Time Engine — capable of
controlling up to 48 simultaneous tasks. There’s also the
SPEL+ Language, and motion and I/O control.

Serial Adapter
This serial adapter from Acroname Robotics bridges
UART serial data to USB as a
virtual serial port. One can
communicate with a device
that requires serial data
communication. Driver
support for this device is
complete across Windows,
Mac OS X (including both Intel and PPC),
Linux, and many other operating systems.
This connector conforms to the Acroname Serial
Interface Standard allowing it to be used with several
different devices. The TTL side is also 3.3V tolerant if you
are using lower voltage circuits than 5V. Power for the
interface bridge connector circuitry is taken from the USB
bus. Four LEDs on the adapter help troubleshoot
connections between a host computer and a device. Serial
