You will need to assemble and install the filament
holder onto the back of the Solidoodle 2 as shown in
Figure 26. The parts are pressed into place, so there is no
need to glue them. I purchased the Solidoodle 2 Pro
shown in Figure 27. It comes with a heated bed, improved
filament mount, upgraded power supply (needed for the
heated bed), and interior lighting.
Afinia H-Series
The Afinia H-Series printer that I have is a loaner, so I
can't comment on the lead time needed to purchase one
of these. I will say the unit I received was new, so the
unboxing is the same. What's in the box?

• Afinia H-Series 3D printer
• 700 g of premium filament
• Work gloves
• Instruction manual
• Software CD
• USB cable
• AC adapter
• Scraper
• Razor knife
• Cutters
• Parts for filament holder
• Three perforated build boards
• Three Allen wrenches
• Extruder cover
• Filament tube
The 3D printer shown in Figure 28 does not have the
filament holder installed. Using one of the provided Allen
wrenches, you will need to remove two screws on the left
side of the Afinia. Next, you will attach the two included
plastic parts using the removed screws. The plastic parts
hold the filament roll in place and provide a mechanism for
feeding the filament to the extruder through a thin tube.

Conclusion
At this point, I have all four printers assembled. The
next step is to install the software and attempt our first
print. Next month, we will do just that. I will take a simple
object and print it on all four printers.
