I then created a spreadsheet that
included the number and weight of
almost every part used in the bot.
This is an important part of the
design process and a quick glance
at the spreadsheet (Figure 15)
shows why. The design is 5 oz
overweight when fitted with the
bigger Mini-EVs.
Bringing the design to within
the 12 lb weight limit will be the
subject of Part 2.
So, what’s the name of
my new bot? Well, Isotelus
Rex is the biggest Trilobite
species yet discovered at over
a yard long! My bot won't be
quite that big, but hopefully
opponents like Cataclysm will
find it just as formidable. SV
