onto his back and then drove
him into the pit. By then, the
pit was so full that Angry Bot
was almost able to self-right
using the carcasses and get
back into the fight, but alas he
wasn't. He still ended up
getting third in that battle
with Caribou deservedly taking
the win.
The team of Cayden and
Ethan (and Katy) ended up
winning second place in the
Antweight class. I told you the
results might surprise you. They
got a really cool trophy and
had a great time. Their dad
had the biggest smile of the
weekend. Overall, the entire
event was awesome and I look
forward to the next one.
Wash, Rinse, Repeat
So, where do we go from here?
Well, the whole way home I got to
hear how they both wanted saw
blades on their robots for the next
event. Talk about one proud papa!
Once we got home, we started
drawing pictures of robots and
ultimately settled on a small wedged
robot with a vertical saw blade. The
design is a loose interpretation of
Verbal Irony — a very successful Ant
that used to fight the Florida circuit
years ago.
I'll make two identical clones and
then we'll start work on a fully
enclosed arena so they can spar
safely. In other words, we get to start
the process all over again with new
designs and two little builders that
have been bitten by the bug.
Look for more details on these
bots and our mini arena in a future
