powerful robots. The first match saw
Torgo win when a driving error put
half of Naked Singularity over the pit.
The second match was much the
same — a high speed drivers match
that saw Torgo wind up in the pit.
With each bot winning once, a
third fight had to occur. In this match,
The large classes faced off in a
somewhat different environment.
Instead of fighting in an arena, the
large robots fought in a chalked out
area that consisted of some flat areas,
some broken concrete, dirt, and
random chunks of metal sticking out
from the ground.
The first match in the
Hobbyweight class saw Hypnus face
off with Abrasive Personality. The bots
fought as much with the terrain as
they did with themselves, and after
several minutes of back and forth
combat, Abrasive Personality came
out on top.
After that, Omega Force took on
Hypnus. While the terrain still
complicated things, the kinetic energy
flipper on Omega Force allowed it to
quickly defeat Hypnus.
In the final Hobbyweight fight,
Omega Force faced Abrasive
Personality and much like with
Hypnus, it was able to flip the
opposing robot reliably and was able
to defeat its opponent.
The first Featherweight match
was between Nyx and Spanky. The
lifter on Nyx was able to reliably get
under and throw Spanky. Between the
guest driver and wild controls on
Spanky, Nyx was able to easily win.
Following that, Nyx faced
Overthruster in a long and brutal back
and forth fight. Each robot was able
to get their opponent out of the
combat area and at one point both
bots went out together.
After some improvised off
roading and a lot of powerful slams,
Nyx was able to come out on top. At
the end of the fight, Overthruster
experienced some electrical issues that
resulted in it forfeiting to Spanky.
While the first Freeside Robot
Street Fight was a fairly small event,
the concept worked well and plans
are already in the works for the next
