As the use of video
projections has become more
popular, we are always on the
lookout for appropriate
players that can handle our
requirements. After trying a
multitude of different DVD
and other media players, I
think I have finally found the right
solution. The Sprite by Team Kingsley
is a significant upgrade to the other
products I have tried (Resources). It is
a small reasonably priced HD media
player and can play most media file
types. The actual video can be stored
on either an SD card or a USB drive. It
can loop without going to a menu
screen, and — best of all — it is
triggerable. If you incorporate video,
you would be wise to check these out
(see Figure 17).
Lighting control is often
neglected, and this is where
companies such as Gantom can lend a
hand (Resources). They manufacture
lighting specifically tailored to the
needs of the themed attraction
industry. They not only offer quality,

Another company that was
thinking outside the box utilized an
RC transmitter to allow them to
control the movements of a very
spooky looking doll (Figure 20). The
Gemini Company’s booth included
items not seen at any other exhibit

One of the principles that I try to
live my life by is “go big or go home”
and the folks at Gore Galore seem to
agree with me (Resources). Their
inventory included some of the
biggest characters at the show. Their
track mounted/actor controlled props
are incredible (Figure 21).
The uncommon always seem to
attract me, and one of the most
unusual was found in the FrightProps
booth. A Steampunk inspired creature
caught my eye and was unlike
anything else at Transworld (check out
Figure 22). FrightProps also had their
selection of talking skulls. You can
add eye and head rotation to them if
you desire (Figure 23).
