this year). Add in the pipes and other fixings, and the
cannon tipped the scales at just under 120 pounds.
We primed the threads, applied the sealant, and
twisted the fittings together. We started with the tee
and completed the barrel assembly first. A large vice
and a pipe wrench helped us get the fittings
tightened down nicely. As we moved to the first of
the tanks, the cannon was becoming a bit more
challenging to handle. It was definitely a team effort.
The second and final tank was appropriately the most
challenging, but once it was done we felt like how
Santa’s Elves must feel after getting the last toy out
the door and into Santa’s sleigh.
Once we put the cannon on Protobot, it will
officially be the heaviest robot we’ve ever built —
